Since the fall of 2008, I have been engrossed in building my own guitar gear. Initially I was introduced to building tube amplifiers, but decided to start a little smaller (both in size and voltage!) with effect pedals (e.g. distortions, fuzzes, delays, etc.). My list of gear to build is growing by the day the deeper I fall into this addicting hobby. I have a list of pedals I want to build first, and then when the experience, money, and time have increased, then I will build a guitar amp (most likely an AC30 head with a 2×12 cabinet, but we’ll see).
As I build, I am going to update this page with my builds. Also, I will give you a list of what is to come (with subject to change of course!).
To Build:
- Paul C’s Timmy (circuit board done, just have to drill the box and paint!)
- Tremulus Lune (circuit board done, just have to drill the box and paint!)
- Valvecaster
- Ruby Amp (with headphone adapter) (finished! – pictures coming soon)
- Fuzz Factory (finished! – pictures coming soon)
- Fulltone OCD
- Electro-Harmonix BMP
- Mobius Trip Looper
- Dirty Little Secret
Have Built (in chronological order):
General Guitar Gadgets ITS8 (Similar to the Ibanez Tube Screamer 808 model)

Rockbox (Similiar to a Box of Rock)

Fuzz Face (similiar to the classic Fuzz Face)

BYOC’s 5-Knob Compressor (based off a Ross Compressor and similar to a Keeley 4-Knob Compressor)

BYOC Phaser with added mods (Feedback knob, Blend knob, Phase 90/45 switch, Phase/Vibe switch)

BYOC Ping-Pong/Echo Delay (with added PTAP2 tap tempo)

Hi Jarod,
I just purchased a OD2 pedal from BYOC (pre-built, a man has to know his limitations) and I was really intrigued by your box designs. Can you share with me how what process you use? No fear, I am not looking to get into the business of doing them I just want to fix my new pedal up. I was a signpainter for many years but I haven’t picked up a brush in a while so I don’t want to mess up my pedal.
I appreciate any help you can offer.
Blessings,
Chris
those paint jobs are AWESOME!!!
saw your link thru BYOC and saw what you were capable of….i’m going to start building after the holidays and your boxes are a real inspiration!
how do you do this thru Photoshop (in which I have)?
