Job

When I read a book, I am often looking for more information. Just as a person works out at the gym to be able to lift just that much more weight or run that much faster, I read in order to know just that much more and to understand something I did not before.

However, one area of literature that I have been on the outside of not knowing where the door to get in is poetry. I want to understand more poetry and memorize more poems. The problem is I do not know where to start.

Until today…

In the last few months, I have noticed authors and publishers putting out trailers to promote their books in the same way movies and television shows do. I must confess, it is a marketing technique that is working on me!

Today I came across the website promoting John Piper’s newest book of poetry about Job. After watching the video on the website, all I could say was “wow.” This must be my door. From an author, teacher, and scholar I respect writing on a topic (which I preached on this summer) I have been interested in for quite some time, I believe this is going to introduce me to a world of not simply knowing or understanding, but experiencing.

I am looking forward to what lies ahead.
