Many of you know that I love to read. This love of reading did not really come to be until college when I was forced to read a great deal of books in a short amount of time, but after I finished college, I found that I continued reading and continued finding books that I want to read. My list is ever growing. There are a couple links on the right hand side of this page that will inform you what I’ve read and what I’m reading (Goodreads) plus my wish list of books that I do not own but would like to (Amazon Wish-list).
One of the books that I am excited about its release is Mark Driscoll’s new book, “Death by Love”. Driscoll’s last book, “Vintage Jesus” I must say, was a little bit of a let-down. It is a fairly imformative and somewhat entertaining book, but I feel it tried to hit two targets and missed both. However his next book looks very intriquing. You can watch the wonderfully made trailer, but do note that this video is not for the little ones. The book deals with differing theologies of Jesus (e.g. expiation, propitiation, etc.) but in real world situations. It affirms the statement that Jesus did not come to Earth to deal with the apparent squeaky-clean Christian with his WWJD bracelet and entire collection of Veggietales, but with the mess and despair of truly hurting people (Mark 2:17). If you read “Death by Love”, I hope to hear your comments on it. Until then, watch the trailer.
