Combination unexpected

Many of you that know me understand my deep appreciate and respect for Bishop N.T. (Tom) Wright. I believe him to be the greatest theologian of this age and the greatest living asset to Christianity. I have read a number of his books, listened to a few of his lectures, and just concluded leading a 10-week course based on his book, “Simply Christian“.

However, like salsa on ice cream, I never expected to see N.T. Wright on a late-night comedy program. I suppose it can be called a combination unexpected, but a combination nonetheless.

While following another theologian’s blog, I came across the totally unforeseeable combination of N.T. Wright and a late night comedy host, Stephen Colbert. Aside from feeling embarrassed for Wright, I am excited that he is getting mainstream attention and I hope many positives come from this.

So please watch this and tell me what you think. I have not had a chance to read Wright’s newest book yet, “Surprised By Hope”, but I hope to in the coming weeks.

Before & After (well, more ‘during’)

We are almost done the big project of painting the exterior of our house. After getting quotes on getting it done by a painter, we decided that we could do it on our own for half the cost (although it has involved a lot of work). The end has not quite been achieved, as we still have some areas that need to be painted, but the house is starting to look finished, and we have had numerous people ask us for a progress report. So I took some pictures today to give you a before and sort-of-after look at our house. For those that know Sarah’s Aunt Helen, we have named the house in her honour (because we essentially stole the colours from her – Thanks Auntie Helen!). Without further ado, here is the before and sort-of-after picture:

So there you have it! We still need a second coat of paint on our door, and some of the trims still need to be painted white, but the house is closer today than it was yesterday.

We have also had requests for a picture of our garden. Here is our cornucopia of food:

Coming soon, I swear

I know I have not been too active on here lately, but we have been busy painting the exterior of our house and doing some other home-care. We are very near the end, and once we have finished I will be sure to post some updated pictures.

On another note, I was excited that we passed the 2000 mark for number of visits to my Outlet! Thanks again for visiting and checking in on what is happening in our lives. I will hope to be more active on here for you my 2000 visitors (or my Mom visiting 2000 times – just kidding!).
